Another Renaissance
What today we call theater started in Iran with the ceremonies around the death of Siavash, the mythical hero popularized in the main by the Book of Kings, three thousand years before the birth of Christ. Ta’ziyeh later took its theatrical form from this tradition, dramatizing the plight of Shiite Imams
